Plauen, Germany has launched four new battery-electric buses to advance public transport sustainability and accessibility. Officially introduced on June 4, these 12-meter eCitaro models by Daimler Buses come equipped with low-floor access and wide aisles for improved mobility for all passengers. Charging infrastructure at the Wiesenstraße depot features four charge points, with plans for expansion by 2027. To complement the vehicles, public transport schedules were adjusted, and Stadtwerke Strom Plauen GmbH provides green electricity for charging. The initiative aligns with PSB's vision for complete electrification of public transportation in Plauen, emphasizing decarbonization efforts and efficient urban mobility.
Plauen's investment in battery-electric buses marks a significant step towards decarbonizing urban transit and improving accessibility within the public transportation system.
The introduction of the new buses and supportive infrastructure aims to enhance city transport efficiency while ensuring that all passengers, including those with disabilities, can benefit.
