EVgo says no to fast-charging extension cables and breakaway adapters
Briefly

EVgo has updated its Terms of Service to prohibit the use of high-speed DC extension cables and breakaway adapters at its charging stations, starting March 8. This move aims to regulate the use of unauthorized equipment at their network, contrasting with the practices of some accessory-making companies. Tesla similarly bars non-company adapters at its Superchargers. This restriction may hinder accessory startups like A2Z EV and EVject, which recently promoted products designed to overcome cord limitations but faced issues with safety and legal challenges.
EVgo prohibits the use of all other adapters, including break-away adapters and DC extension cords on EVgo's network and Charging Stations.
Tesla's Terms of Use for its Superchargers similarly prohibit any adapter not sold or provided by Tesla or by other automakers.
Some early testing by YouTube channel State of Charge shows the extension cable working without overheating.
Tesla sued the company after the automaker's testing found that the adapter could overheat, eventually dropping the case later in the year.
