Transport for London (TfL) has proposed withdrawing bus route 605, which serves mainly schoolchildren travelling to Mill Hill County High School. Low passenger usage, with only 23 and 19 users respectively in morning and afternoon surveys, has prompted this decision. TfL believes that most riders can switch to the alternative route 251, which covers most of the same areas. Some passengers may need to walk an additional ten minutes if route 605 is discontinued. A consultation is currently ongoing and will be open until April 7 to consider public feedback on the proposal.
TfL plans to withdraw bus route 605, which primarily serves schoolchildren, due to low usage, proposing this to reallocate resources to higher demand areas.
Only 23 passengers used the 605 in the morning and 19 in the afternoon, leading Transport for London to believe the route is underutilized.
The 605 route is largely redundant as most services can be covered by route 251, leaving some passengers to walk longer distances if withdrawn.
A consultation on the discontinuation of the route is currently ongoing, providing the public a chance to voice their opinions until April 7.
