Belgium, De Lijn ends hydrogen bus operations, electrification strategy focuses on BEV - Sustainable Bus
Briefly

The Belgian public transport operator De Lijn has decommissioned its five hydrogen-powered buses in Antwerp and dismantled the associated hydrogen refuelling station, primarily due to the bankruptcy of their supplier, Van Hool. This lack of technical support led to increased operational costs, prompting De Lijn to shift its focus entirely to battery-electric buses as part of their future strategy. Flemish Minister of Mobility affirmed that hydrogen is not a viable option for public transport in Belgium at this time.
"With the bankruptcy, technical support and maintenance options disappeared. Combined with higher operational costs, the decision was made to dismantle the hydrogen refuelling station at Vaartkaai and retire the five hydrogen buses."
"Our electrification strategy is focused on battery-powered vehicles. There are no plans to deploy hydrogen buses," she added.
