The Silverado EV presents challenges for drivers at lower speeds due to its lengthy size, particularly lacking rear-wheel steering unless opting for the pricier RST model. Home charging capabilities are essential for EV buyers, with reliance on Level 1 or Level 2 options affecting convenience and recharge times. While its efficiency varies with temperature, the vehicle has flexibility in charging support. Chevrolet's shift towards electric vehicles seems optimistic, though the current market reception among pickup enthusiasts is less favorable, raising questions about the vehicle's long-term success in this segment.
At lower speeds, I found the Silverado EV a little more cumbersome. It's a very long vehicle, and you need the expensive RST version for rear-wheel steering.
Having a garage isn't a must, but I believe being able to charge at home or reliably at work is crucial for buying a plug-in vehicle.
Level 2 AC charging should take 8-10 hours for a full charge... Expect a 10-80 percent charge to take around 45 minutes.
Was Chevrolet misguided in making the Silverado EV? It made more sense during peak EV optimism, but it seems pickup buyers are not easily converted.
