Woman marooned on top of pickup truck for 15 hours in East Bay creek
A woman was rescued after spending almost 15 hours trapped on the roof of her submerged pickup truck in a creek in Del Valle Regional Park in Livermore.
Authorities were alerted by a camper and a California Highway Patrol helicopter was able to hoist the woman to safety.
The woman was trying to drive across the creek and became trapped after underestimating the depth of the water. [ more ]

Animal care officials in Los Angeles County are looking for new homes for dozens of cats rescued from a facility in the Antelope Valley, including some that are unsocialized or have special needs.
80 cats seized from the facility have been put up for adoption, with at least 20 of them being unsuited to be indoor pets and better suited for rural or outdoor environments. [ more ]
