If I talk to someone about The Bentonville Bulletin, I make sure to ask if they want to sign up. I always pull the sign-up page up on my phone and hand it to them during our conversation.
Our graphic designer created a bunch of logo concepts for the publication, and I was having trouble deciding on a path forward. So I punted the decision to The People, creating a simple Google Form to solicit feedback on four of the options.
The bulk of new email subscribers came from Meta lead gen ads. Lead gen ads are a type of advertising option shown across Facebook and Instagram that's perfectly suited for collecting email addresses.
Typically, for a local news publication, Indiegraf aims to spend about $2.50-4 per signup (ideally lower). Lead gen ads can be targeted based on a variety of interests and demographic information.
