Israel reportedly pushing deal for captive release without ending war
Israel has prepared a proposal for a two-month truce to secure the release of captives held by Hamas in Gaza, without ending the war.
The proposal includes a phased release of captives, starting with women and those over 60, followed by female soldiers and non-soldiers, and then male soldiers and bodies remaining in Gaza.
US envoy Brett McGurk is in Cairo to discuss the deal, with plans to continue to Qatar and pressure is rising on Israel to bring the captives home. [ more ]
