But earlier this week, some golfers left fans perplexed for the fashion choices they made at the event's kick-off gala. Team USA was spotted in - checks notes - dark suits and bright white sneakers. For some sartorial critics, it also didn't help that many opted for open collars instead of ties. Meanwhile, their counterparts across the pond wore traditional black tie attire.
