The Atlanta Braves seem primed to add long-time Minnesota Twins coach Tommy Watkins to their coaching staff per multiple reports. Dan Hayes of the Athletic was first to report the news earlier this afternoon. As Aaron Gleeman of the Athletic noted, Watkins had been with the Twins for 27 years. Reporting on the Braves side indicated that Watkins' role with the Braves is not yet known, with the Athletic's David O'Brien suggesting it could be a 3rd base coach or major league coach role.

Mansolino had been in the running to become the new manager for the Orioles after his interim stint as manager ended with the Orioles posting a winning record while he was the skipper. Those plans got nipped in the bud when Craig Albernaz was named as manager of the O's going forward and now he's found a home in Atlanta's organization as their new third base coach.

The Braves on Friday announced the hiring of former Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino as their new third base coach. He'll take over for Fredi Gonzalez, whose departure from the staff was reported earlier in the week. Atlanta also hired former Giants pitching coach J.P. Martinez - not to be confused with the former Braves outfielder of the same name - as their new bullpen coach.
