The combination of warmer weather and the impending release of my new book has got me fully focused on sunshine food and Mediterranean flavours, leaning heavily on recipes from Claudia Roden.

The specificity makes sense-when was the last time a cruise ship could boast an average guest room size of 581 square feet? Or a bar with églomisé cocktail tables, each one crafted in London and commissioned by AD100 firm MBDS?

Sandy Cay is a natural extension of our vision for private destinations. When we opened Ocean Cay in 2019, our goal was to give guests an experience that's authentic to the Bahamas and reflects the region's natural beauty.

This year's cruise list covers the latest and greatest, including the ships reacquainting us with beloved Caribbean islands, small vessels meandering the Amazon, and expeditions to Antarctica.

La Maddalena, Sardinia, is home to the first national park of Sardinia, featuring mostly undeveloped beaches and a vibrant main town with restaurants and shops.

Sperlonga, Italy, is home to fewer than 4,000 full-time residents, making it a prime place to go for some peace and solitude. Its shoreline is also a Blue Flag certified beach, meaning its water quality, sustainability, and environmental management practices are among the best in the world.

Santorini's stunning beaches still have plenty to offer, characterized by unique landscapes rather than traditional silky blonde sand. Accessing them often requires climbing or navigating rocky terrain.

The weather this week looks ideal, with sunny to modestly sunny skies each day, temperatures in the mid-70s to low-80s. Evening temperatures should drop to around the 60s throughout the workweek. With this season, we wanted to capture the feeling of being in the Mediterranean-the light, the energy, the colors of the coast. Located within the Maddalena Archipelago National Park, Rosa dei Budelli is one of the Mediterranean's most closely protected beaches. Its pale pink hue, created by microscopic organisms mixed with crushed coral, has made it famous, but access is tightly regulated. Visitors may arrive only by boat and must admire the shoreline from designated areas offshore.

To create this list, we looked at destinations seeing the largest percentage increase in Google Flights searches for domestic trips in March and April 2026, compared to the same period in 2025. Spring break for students usually takes place between mid-March and mid-April, though of course anyone, adults included, can take one.

I recently returned from my fifth trip to French Polynesia-specifically, Bora Bora-and I remain convinced it's the most beautiful place on earth. But despite similar perks, the travel experiences couldn't be more different. Choosing between a floating resort that whisks you between several ports and a property that promises everything in one place depends on personal travel style.
