Stanford is bringing live music back to its football stadium and amid concerns that its proposed concerts will be too loud, a Santa Clara County planner ruled today (Nov. 10) that the event can move forward. Principal Planner Robert Salisbury granted Stanford a permit to host a three-night concert series at the stadium this spring in a public hearing this morning. The event would take place May 16, 17 and 19 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and include fireworks displays each night.
Stanford remained winless in four road games all in different time zones as SMU scored the first 17 points in a 34-10 win in Dallas on Saturday. The Cardinal (2-4, 1-2 ACC) allowed an 87-yard touchdown run with 35 seconds left in the first half to fall behind 17-0, and SMU had a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown that made it 31-10 midway through the fourth quarter.
PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- Eleven Stanford students charged with felony trespassing were in a Santa Clara County courtroom Monday morning. This comes after a grand jury indicted the students last week with one count each of conspiracy to trespass and vandalism. A rally supporting the Pro-Palestinian protesters was held after Monday's arraignment. A November 17 trial date has been set for eight of the 11 protesters. A later date will be set for the other three protesters.
After opening the season with losses at Hawaii and BYU, Stanford shocked Boston College at Stanford Stadium, shutting the Eagles out in the second half and converting three turnovers into 21 points to give interim coach Frank Reich his first collegiate win. A Cardinal defense allowing its fewest rushing yards per game since 2013 and recording nine sacks will now face a Virginia offense that is eighth in the country in rushing yards (266.7) and hasn't allowed a sack.
