New Capability: In response to strong positive customer feedback and numerous requests, we're excited to announce a new feature connecting the Grounding Queries and Pages views within the AI Performance report.
New overloads on TarFile.CreateFromDirectory accept a TarEntryFormat parameter, giving direct control over the archive format. Previously, CreateFromDirectory produced Pax archives. The new overloads support all four tar formats—Pax, Ustar, GNU, and V7—for compatibility with specific tools and environments.
A financial analyst can pull comparable company financials from an open workbook and other data sources. From there they could build out a trading comps table in Excel, drop the valuation summary into the pitch deck, and draft the email to the MD - without switching tabs or re-explaining the dataset at each step.
Bing is testing a new report within Bing Webmaster Tools named AI Performance. AI Performance shows you how many citations you are getting from Microsoft Copilot and partners. But while it shows you citations (i.e. impressions), it does not show you clicks from those Bing AI experiences. Microsoft did not announce this but this is something Microsoft is testing with a limited number of trusted beta testers.
Developers have spent the past decade trying to forget databases exist. Not literally, of course. We still store petabytes. But for the average developer, the database became an implementation detail; an essential but staid utility layer we worked hard not to think about. We abstracted it behind object-relational mappers (ORM). We wrapped it in APIs. We stuffed semi-structured objects into columns and told ourselves it was flexible.
Ever since version 10.3, MariaDB has been steadily adding Oracle compatibility features, making it easier to port Oracle to MariaDB as-is. Oracle compatibility is opt-in. All you need to do is issue the command SET SQL_MODE='ORACLE' to activate it for a given set of SQL statements. Existing MariaDB behaviors will also be preserved wherever possible.
Manual database deployment means longer release times. Database specialists have to spend several working days prior to release writing and testing scripts which in itself leads to prolonged deployment cycles and less time for testing. As a result, applications are not released on time and customers are not receiving the latest updates and bug fixes. Manual work inevitably results in errors, which cause problems and bottlenecks.
R2 SQL now supports SUM, COUNT, AVG, MIN, and MAX, as well as GROUP BY and HAVING clauses. These aggregation functions let developers run SQL analytics directly on data stored in R2 via the R2 Data Catalog, enabling them to quickly summarize data, spot trends, generate reports, and identify unusual patterns in logs. In addition to aggregations, the update introduces schema discovery commands, including SHOW TABLES and DESCRIBE.
The main advantage of going the Multi-Cloud way is that organizations can "put their eggs in different baskets" and be more versatile in their approach to how they do things. For example, they can mix it up and opt for a cloud-based Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution when it comes to the database, while going the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) route for their application endeavors.
