The Homekey project at 1237 San Antonio Road has been in the works since fall 2023, when city and state leaders touted its importance in addressing the local and regional housing crisis.

"We've always thought that it would be great if we could have a space where we could rest or get a coffee when we are working," said Gustavo Ajche, highlighting the long-standing need for a dedicated area for delivery workers.

One resident of Princeton's Western Section told the room, 'Those of us who own historic homes are subsidizing the community' - and was met with applause.

"Those attending should be aware that showing support for a proscribed organisation is an offence under the Terrorism Act, and we will not hesitate to act where the law is broken," said commander Claire Smart.

After 15 years, volunteers at a Bed Stuy farm found themselves locked out of the green space that has fed thousands over the years, and lately became a temporary home for asylum seekers.

The project will stitch new housing, ground-floor retail and artist space into a canalfront esplanade, with about a quarter of the apartments locked in as permanently affordable.

The Harmony measures 34 feet long and 8.5 feet wide, making it road-legal across North America without a special permit. Inside, the floor plan stretches to 423 square feet, thoughtfully designed for family living.

"The landlord did not pay attention to this house whatsoever. We didn't even know we had a landlord."

The company's website, claims that they can "quickly and legally" get squatters out of a home "while ensuring you are never liable for our actions." And, it says, "Don't ask about our methods - The less you know, the safer you are." Those methods, as Jacobs has boasted on YouTube and on at least one radio show, include using a katana or Japanese sword.

The report, published Tuesday, calls for NYCHA to keep better tabs on its vacant homes, the majority of which are awaiting-often extensive, and legally required-remediation work after the prior tenant moved out and before they can be rented again.
