How Mexico City's biggest wholesale market is combating food waste
The Central de Abastos is a wholesale produce market in Mexico City that feeds millions of people daily but also generates a significant amount of food waste.
Since 2020, the market has implemented a program to redirect unused produce to soup kitchens, leading to a 24% reduction in food waste and the delivery of almost 800 tons of food.
