On a Sunday evening in October, Robert Cydear, 78, pulled out of the parking lot at Santa Rosa's Friedman's Home Improvement to turn left on Santa Rosa Avenue when his vehicle collided with a patrol SUV driven by a Sonoma County sheriff's deputy. The deputy was southbound at the time, trying to to catch up with two suspected street racers when his 2023 Dodge Durango struck Cydear's white 2012 Ford Fusion, crushing its front end.
A wanted felon led Sonoma County sheriff's deputies on a one-hour chase Thursday in which a vehicle pursuit turned into a foot pursuit and then a water pursuit in the frigid Russian River. The incident began on Thursday afternoon, when authorities appear to have been seeking out the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Raymundo Navarro Jimenez. Navarro Jimenez had an outstanding warrant for his arrest out of San Joaquin County for narcotics-related charges and possession of child pornography, and it's not clear how the pursuit began.
SAN BRUNO - A shooting and fire are under investigation in San Bruno, police said. The incident was reported just after 3:30 p.m. Friday at a two-story home in the 100 block of Keefe Court, a cul-de-sac located off Rosewood Drive, according to the San Bruno Police Department. Additional details about the incident were not immediately available. In an update around 5:15 p.m., police said the scene was still active and asked the public to avoid the area. Capitola police booked the suspect, a 44-year-old man from out of county, into Santa Cruz County Jail on multiple felony charges including robbery, obstruction, theft and a parole hold, as well as Ramey warrants from nearby counties, a type of warrant issued before a prosecutor files formal criminal charges. Last week, Capitola police investigated a robbery from a business where a loss prevention officer was injured when the suspect shoved them to ground, according to a statement from the department.
From Nov. 8-9, 114 vehicles were burglarized at apartment complexes, police said in a press release. Vehicles were hit in residential parking garages on the 300 block of Crescent Village Circle, 3400 block of Iron Point Drive, 3700 block of Casa Verde Street and 100 block of Baypointe Parkway. Witnesses reported seeing an adult male, but the suspect disappeared before police arrived.
PETTY THEFT: 9:56 a.m. at Safeway on Pollard Road. A woman came into the store and stole five bottles of alcohol on Oct. 14, 2025. The store did not report the theft at the time because they were not sure of the woman's name. PETTY THEFT: 1:45 p.m. on Central Avenue. A router and photo were stolen.
