Shoreline Lake, in Mountain View, is holding its third annual Sail-A-Dinghy-Day on Sunday, April 12th, from 10am to 4pm. Visitors to "Silicon Valley's best kept secret" will get access to free skippered sailboat rides, helmed by the Boathouse's experienced instructors, as well as other Welcome-to-Sailing activities.
Participants gathered at Constitution Beach, where dozens of "splashers" ran into the freezing water to raise money for the Better Beaches Grant Program. The program provides small grants to individuals and organizations that host free public events and activities each summer on Department of Conservation and Recreation beaches from Nahant to Nantasket.

Off the deep waters of Kumejima, Japan, Steven Kovacs captured an image that would be awarded Best in Show for the 2025 Ocean Art Photography Contest. Traveling to the Okinawa prefecture in the hopes of encountering a scarcely documented species of larval goosefish, Kovacs spent nearly two weeks blackwater diving before photographing the rare moment. "Unfortunately, this beautiful little fish turned out to be incredibly uncooperative and difficult to photograph," Kovacs says.
