Spring snowpack has shrunk significantly over the last 40 years due to warming

Seasonal snowpack across the Northern Hemisphere has significantly shrunk over the last 40 years due to global warming, putting millions of people at risk of worsening water instability.
River basins in the Southwestern and Northeastern United States, as well as Central and Eastern Europe, have seen the sharpest declines in snow water equivalent, with decreases of 10% to 20% per decade. [ more ]
