Grok, a standalone app as well as a feature on Elon Musk's social media platform X, generated 3 million sexualized images in the 11 days after its image-editing feature was released in December, the UK-based Center for Countering Digital Hate reported. Users digitally stripped real women in images and more than 20,000 apparent children manipulating many into sexual poses. Musk responded dismissively, reposting an AI-generated image of a toaster in a bikini, saying he couldn't stop laughing about it.

Ofcom has opened formal investigations into BT and Three after mobile outages this summer left Britons unable to make calls - including to emergency services. Two U.S. senators are pushing the heads of the Federal Trade Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission to probe Meta Platforms after a recent Reuters investigation revealed the social media giant earned $16 billion from advertising scams and banned goods in 2024. A letter from Senators Josh Hawley (R‑MO) and Richard Blumenthal (D‑CT) to the agencies calls for a full investigation into Meta, pointing out that internal documents show Meta earned about 10% of its annual revenue from scam and fraudulent ads last year.
