While this kind of driving isn't uncommon on Staten Island, it doesn't make it any less dangerous. Recently submitted dash cam footage shows one driver who thought they didn't need to stop at a red light on one of the busiest roads on the North Shore. A 31-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver was killed by a motorist who blew through a Brooklyn red light and is now charged with manslaughter for the crash, police said Monday. Arturo Alberto Baez Cordero was heading east on 9th St. in Gowanus when he was struck by a Honda Odyssey driver speeding north on Second Ave. about 6:25 p.m. Sunday, cops said.
