Bluesky says it's planning to make the app feel more "live" this year as part of ongoing efforts to build a competent rival to Elon Musk's X platform. Announcing Bluesky's 2026 development roadmap, product head Alex Benzer said the platform is working to make feeds more interactive and timely during live events, alongside teasing improvements to posting and follow suggestions.
This will include measures such as price increases, accounting for new costs like tariffs, and extending the replacement cycle of its in-market devices, per the memo. "Our devices will be more premium in price going forward, but we'll have a healthier business to anchor on and free ourselves from feeling existential about any singular device's success," Aul and Cairns wrote in the memo, shared with staff on December 4.
Zinsner emphasizes that the construction of 14A production capacity will only proceed if there are sufficient commitments from external customers. According to Zinsner, this is purely financial common sense. The chip manufacturer wants to avoid making billions in investments without guaranteed sales.
