The US Department of Defense on Tuesday awarded Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) a 10-year, $931 million contract to bring cloud conveniences, like unified management and multi-tenancy, to the US military's most sensitive datacenters. The Distributed Hybrid Multi-Cloud contract, awarded by the DoD's Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), will see the deployment of HPE's Green Lake Private Cloud offering across its IT footprint.
"The conversation around enterprise IT is changing," said Caitlin Gordon, Vice President of Multicloud Product Management for Dell Technologies in a . "It's no longer about choosing between public cloud and on-premises infrastructure."
"Canonical is the number-one Cloud OS provider in the market with the Ubuntu containers, and VMware by Broadcom, with our VCF Foundation, is the number-one private cloud platform," said Prashanth Shenoy, VP of product marketing, VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) division of Broadcom, during a media briefing. "So those two organizations coming together really helps our customers build Kubernetes-based modern applications."
