A glossy brochure is still one of the fastest ways to put your brand story in a buyer's hands. Trade-show attendees tuck it into a tote, hotel guests leaf through it while waiting for a meeting, and new distributors scan it to see if you're worth a call. When the same piece must work in Madrid, São Paulo, and Seoul, every headline, caption, and micro-copy line has to ring true in the reader's own language.
The internet, since its very inception, has been a conduit for pleasure, sex and sexuality. From early erotic ASCII art and hook-up sites, to the proliferation of porn sites in the 1980s and 90s, despite attempts to curtail it, shadowban it and commercialise it from the top down, sex remains an underlying force in our online world, fuelling intimate moments of screentime and alternative forms of income generation.
In fashion studios worldwide, a creative evolution continues to reshape print design. While some designers manipulate pixels on screens, others insist on paint-loaded brushes. This tension defines one of fashion's biggest creative developments: the shift from analogue to digital processes in print design. However, far from a simple case of replacing old with new, it's a complex dance between tradition and innovation, craftsmanship and efficiency, artistic expression and commercial demands. Some of the most influential fashion trends have balanced the old and the new. And as AI increasingly encroaches on the industry as a digital tool, how should designers navigate hybrid models to bring designs to life? Designers and fashion educators weigh in.
"Candidly, this project also came out of a conversation with my therapist," Leah says. "When I was talking about feeling creatively blocked - she asked me what I would want to make even if no one ever saw it, something where the act of making something would be fulfilling in and of itself. My instinctual answer was 'a publication about dumplings'."
Mikolai argues that magazines are, at least in part, a response to the "increasingly horrible, online experience we all have to deal with" - AI slop, pop-up banner ads, SEO rubbish and the dead internet theory. "We've almost broken this amazing thing we invented," says Mikolai. "As the world moves faster and gets more chaotic, there's something nostalgic and comforting about sitting down with a coffee and a physical magazine you can read."
