A committee member for the Republican National Committee (RNC) submitted a proposal to name Donald Trump the presumptive GOP nominee for the 2024 presidential election, but the draft document was withdrawn after facing backlash.
Under current rules, a candidate needs to obtain a majority of available delegates before being called the presumptive nominee, and Trump has only won two statewide nominating contests so far. [ more ]
