1985 was characterized by iconic pop culture, fashion, and childhood experiences captured in everyday life through photographs.
Clothing that bears the name of a city near or far has become a closet staple for many consumers in recent years, evolving from impulse purchases to mainstream fashion.
It's also, notably, Lola Tung's first major role since The Summer I Turned Pretty. During a Q&A after the film, she talked about the contrast between the two roles. Dressed in a black lingerie top with a black skirt and a black cape, like she was ready to go into the woods and conduct a sacrifice, she quipped, 'I mean, I don't know, Cousins is pretty dangerous.'
'We had a few songs that we were like, 'These are really good, these are genius, and we are the Spice Girls slash Destiny's Child,' said singer Ayden Mayeri in the documentary, on which she served as director.
A special 50th anniversary Punk Rock history event at The New Farm featuring bands and musicians from the dawn of the punk rock revolution of San Francisco. NO ALTERNATIVE, SLEEPERS AD, SOCIETY DOG plus AVENGERS guitar player GREG INGRAHAM performing with JEAN CAFFEINE, THE DEAD SAILOR GIRLS & INSECT LOUNGE.
Beleaguered Louvre president Laurence des Cars quits after a historic heist under her watch. The next morning, a new leader is announced. It's Christophe Leribault from the Palace of Versailles, a true museum animal who ran a few during his career.
Thousands of cheering fans surround the ice at the Honda Center. The arena is loud, packed with fans in Anaheim Ducks jerseys. As the puck drops and the action starts, players zoom back and forth until - boom! A shot, and the Ducks score. But when the music hits for the first goal of the game, it's not the typical "We Will Rock You" by Queen. It's "Come Out and Play" by local heroes, and one of Orange County's most influential punk bands, the Offspring.
In 'Bad Moons,' the unpredictability lies not in the lyrics like usual, where Mike Kinsella admits he's 'just two little boys in a trench coat' in that languorous voice he can't shed. Instead, the lasting impression comes from his bandmates' graceful turns through delicate post-rock. Aqueous harp and piano eventually give way to a fishing net of guitars, each minimalist line woven tighter than the next.
Michigan screamo band Youth Novel returned from hiatus with their excellent self-titled album in 2021, but then members turned their focus towards Heavenly Blue (now known as Heaven's Blinding Hue), who released their debut album We Have the Answer in 2024. But now, Youth Novel are back once again with their new album I Went Through This Experience Smiling. Picking right up where the band left off, it's an intense listen, as pulverizingly heavy as it is deeply beautiful.
"When I read the fine print, it was 'an experience with REO Speedwagon's music.' It's none of the original members," Fletcher recalls. "I don't want to promote the show unless it's the real thing. I don't know why you would want to see that. It's just a cover band. To me, that's a little bit strange." He adds, with a sigh, "If there are no original members, who cares?"
"Brooklyn! The news is in and you officially sold out @musichallofwb in record time! Thank you for that! It's bittersweet that it will be our last ever performance in a venue that we love, but what a send off it will be. The rest of the tour is selling quickly so please - if you want to come celebrate Full Collapse, A City By The Light Divided and No Devolucion with us and see Chris Conley perform a rare solo set into the bargain,"

There isn't one songwriter, and so the flavour of the band is always going to change, says Dave Vanian, reflecting on 50 years of the group of which he has been the sole constant member, the Damned. Captain Sensible is a great fan of syrupy pop music and prog and glam rock. So his writing is very poppy, melodic and quite wonderful.
Cali indiepop greats Rocketship are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their 1996 debut album A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness by giving it its first vinyl pressing since the original release. This is much needed as original copies fetch for over $200 in the secondary market. It's out March 20 via Slumberland and you can preorder it here. The album, which mixed sugary melodies and jangly guitars with shoegaze atmosphere and krautrock drone, sounds pretty fresh in 2026 and you can listen below.
This is by far the biggest release week of the year so far. Amanda and I highlight 12 new releases below, and Bill tackles another five in Indie Basement, including Cardinals, Luke Temple & The Cascading Moms, The Paranoid Style, the Wall of Voodoo 1983 demos collection, and the expanded reissue of Velocity Girl's ¡Simpatico!. And in addition to these reviews, Dave and I talked a lot about all this new music on today's episode of BV Weekly.
"As the owner of Fat Wreck Chords, the label that put out most of NOFX's material, as well as albums by scores of other bands, a lack of seriousness was a luxury he couldn't afford. "It's a lot of responsibility," he admitted with a sigh of relief now that the band has stopped touring and the label has been sold to Hopeless Records.

All those shows will take place ahead of Devo's remaining Cosmic De-Evolution Tour gigs with the B-52's, in England.
