After helping lead UConn to its third straight undefeated Big East regular season, Strong was named the conference Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Strong averaged 18.6 points, 7.6 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 1.6 blocks through 30 games this season. She recorded 13 20-point games and eight double-doubles, and she ranks seventh in the nation in steals.
"I won't go as far as Real Madrid and boycott. Of course, it also depends on [winning] titles, to be honest. But the performances of our players, Jamal last season, but also Michael Olise and Harry, the assessments are subjective; everyone is entitled to their own opinion," Eberl said in early-season comments captured by @iMiaSanMia. "We will do everything we can to ensure that we are successful as a team, and then we will achieve a better ranking."
"I hope you'll hear less about Bruno this year, but a lot more about United. That's my main objective because my name being spoken, let's say vaguely alone, it doesn't fill me with pride or anything. United being talked about, being positive, that's the most important thing and that's what I want for this season."
