"Among the measures being modelled behind closed doors are the throttling of data speeds, restricting access during periods of high demand, and charging customers a premium at peak times, a move that would mark a significant departure from the all-you-can-eat tariffs that have dominated the British mobile market for more than a decade."
"Wireless bills have gotten way too complicated and way too expensive. With UnBig Your Bill, Optimum Mobile is putting transparency and affordability front and center. Customers bring us their bill, we do the math together, and either they save with us or we give them $150. It's that simple."
The $30 Mobile Select plan covers the main basics, including 50GB of 'premium' full-speed data; Global Travel Pass to cover yourself when traveling in 215 different countries; and Xfinity's Wi-Fi PowerBoost.
Smartphone shipments have been falling for the last nine months in the U.S. The concerning trend has affected the majority of smartphone manufacturers. But despite the downturn, phone makers are optimistic for a few valid reasons. The US smartphone market shrunk by 24 percent year-over-year in Q2 this year. Let's look at how the leading smartphone manufacturers have fared, and how they are trying to wade through the uncertain times.
The age of smartphones that were traded in reached a record high during the 2025 upgrade cycle, according to a new report from Circana and B-Stock. Most of the devices traded in were at least three generations old, yet even older phones are in high demand on a global basis. As of October 2025, nearly 11% of U.S. consumers own a pre-owned smartphone, with almost one-third (30%) of those being certified pre-owned (CPO) models.
Consumers are not passively renewing mobile plans. They are actively evaluating them, comparing value, scrutinizing pricing, and reassessing providers more frequently. Mobile is evolving from a static utility into a dynamic service relationship, and the next era will belong to those who reduce complexity, communicate transparently, and activate seamlessly.
The top-of-the-line Galaxy S26 Ultra is currently available with a £170 discount on the 512GB and 1TB variants. The device is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and introduces Samsung's new Privacy Display feature, along with a few other minor upgrades.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is $300 off at the moment, which makes it cheaper than the Samsung foldable at equal storage levels. The Pixel is down on performance (Tensor G5 vs. Snapdragon 8 Elite), but it does have more RAM than most Z Fold7 configurations (only the 1TB model has 16GB of RAM). The main 48MP camera on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a disappointingly small 1/2.0" sensor, which looks insufficient next to the 200MP 1/1.3" sensor of the Galaxy.
While Amazon UK's smartphone deals section doesn't feature any standout offers at the moment, there are still some solid discounts available on select devices. Those planning to pick up the OnePlus 15, Pixel 10/10 Pro, or an iPad Air should take a look at the deals below. Let's start with the OnePlus 15, which is currently available with a £50 discount. Although that's not much, it's still a decent deal.
