As far as President Trump and boots on the ground, I don't understand why the base, which they have already, they understand, wouldn't have faith in his ability to execute on this. Look at his track record of pursuing peace through strength, America First outcomes, the defense secretary began.
The Peoples Temple of the Disciples of Christ, today known as the Peoples Temple, was a U.S. new religious movement organization existing between its founding in 1955 until its dissolution in 1978. Founded by Jim Jones in Indianapolis, Indiana, the Peoples Temple spread a message combining elements of Christianity with egalitarian politics. Through the years, Jones tightened his control over the group, first by requiring members to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas together as a Temple "family" rather than with blood relatives.
Indeed, regional "divisions" - others might say "alarm" or "outrage" - had intensified during the fall of 2025 following the US's massive military build-up in the Caribbean, its air strikes against alleged drug boats - resulting in scores of extrajudicial killings - and the threats of a US attack on Venezuela.
The US's clear military and economic dominance of the postwar world gave it an obvious claim to seniority; however, there was also a strong strain within English conservatism at the time that saw itself as Greeks in this American empire, in the words of former Tory prime minister Harold Macmillan. In other words, even if the Americans were to be the new Romans, extending their dominion over every corner of the globe, without the intellectual, cultural and political guidance of their wise old mother country they would quickly fall into ruin.
For one thing, there were too many elements of classical fascism that didn't seem to fit. For another, the term has been overused to the point of meaninglessness, especially by left-leaning types who call you a fascist if you oppose abortion or affirmative action. For yet another, the term is hazily defined, even by its adherents. From the beginning, fascism has been an incoherent doctrine, and even today scholars can't agree on its definition. Italy's original version differed from Germany's, which differed from Spain's.

The Department of Homeland Security's Facebook account recently posted a recruiting notice for ICE under the banner "WE'LL HAVE OUR HOME AGAIN"-the title of a white-nationalist anthem by the Pine Tree Riots ("By blood or sweat, we'll get there yet"). The Department of Labor recently posted a video montage referencing American battle scenes under the tagline "One Homeland. One People. One Heritage. Remember who you are, American"-a slogan close to the Nazi-era Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Führer.
Tucker Carlson has long been a standard-bearer for far-right views, such as the racist conspiracy theory known as the "great replacement." He recently did a chatty interview with the white supremacist Nick Fuentes, an admirer of Hitler. They trace how Carlson's sense of personal resentment toward the establishment grew; how launching his own website radicalized his politics in the years before MAGA;
Ben Shapiro is a conservative provocateur. Ever since he was a teen-ager at U.C.L.A. writing op-eds for the Daily Bruin, he has shown a penchant for the rhetorical grenade. Women who have abortions are "baby killers." Western civilization is "superior" to other civilizations. "Israelis like to build," he tweeted in 2010. "Arabs like to bomb crap and live in open sewage. This is not a difficult issue. #settlementsrock." Shapiro is now forty-two, and his rhetoric has mellowed only somewhat.
Earlier this week, Gary Kendrick, a GOP council member in the red town of El Cajon, on San Diego's eastern outskirts, announced that he was crossing the aisle and joining the Democrats. Kendrick was the longest-serving Republican official in the region's local government. "I've been a Republican for 50 years," he said, in the statement explaining his action. "I just can't stand what the Republican Party has become. I'm formally renouncing the Republican Party."
Even after the especially chaotic events of the past few weeks, Trump supporters are sticking by their man. Second, faith in Trump's leadership is not driven by his adherence to a coherent political ideology. Trump, who, as part of his "America First" policy, once declared that he would be "getting out of the nation-building business," has now declared that the U.S. "will run the country" of Venezuela for the foreseeable future.

Video showed Pretti approach ICE with his phone in hand not a gun so he could record their actions. Pretti's family said he had a lawful permit to carry a concealed handgun in Minnesota, which ICE agents were seen on video removing from his person when tackling Pretti to the ground.

And while Heritage cannot claim perfection, this much is certain: We have stayed true to our mission despite the critics;
The word that comes to my mind is dissidence. If we want to understand why the whistleblowing, camera-wielding people of Minneapolis have caused the Trump administration-and Donald Trump himself-to flinch, I believe we need some added history, and a bigger map. What we've been watching is part of a long, established tradition-one that might help Americans unlock a different kind of future.
