A female passenger died after falling from a balcony on a Carnival Cruise ship traveling from California to Mexico.
A passenger who died on a Royal Caribbean cruise was doused with pepper spray and physically restrained by staff members after he was served 33 alcoholic drinks and became violent, according to a lawsuit the man's family filed against the company. Video from aboard the Royal Caribbean Cruises ship showed Michael Virgil at times screaming, kicking at a door, shirtless and then being restrained on the ground.
Earlier in day, the vessel docked at Lizard Island, a resort destination with a nature preserve some 20 miles off the Queensland coast. The woman was hiking Cook's Look peak there with other passengers, authorities said, but at some point separated from the group to take a break. She ultimately failed to board the ship, and the cruise liner set off at around sunset as scheduled, the Australian Broadcasting Company reported.
