Earth received a message from 10M miles away - but it wasn't E.T.
NASA successfully beamed a laser from space to Southern California, a historic event and a step towards sending astronauts to Mars.
The laser was emitted from NASA's unmanned Psyche spacecraft, which is on a mission to explore a metal-filled comet in the asteroid belt in 2028.
The laser's successful blast is an instrumental step in higher-data-rate communications for deep space exploration and sending humans to Mars. [ more ]
