A little bit. (thinks) I like the way Crystal Palace plays football. I considered whether it might be a good opportunity or not, but I immediately told Devy Rigaux and the staff that I wouldn't push, Tzolis explained. It would be bad for the team if I didn't want to train or play because I wanted to secure a transfer.
It was of a piece with him essentially reading the riot act to his players. They had not turned up at the start, he suggested, and the less said about the closing stages, the better apart from the last-gasp winner. It is rare to hear Arteta be so critical but he knew his team had got away with one and he wanted them to know, too.
"There is never a must win. Yes, we want to win, we will do everything to win the game, but Alkmaar is a very experienced team in European football. Maybe not for their age [of the club] but they always qualify for European football. Two years ago they played Aston Villa in the group stage. Three years ago they played in the semi-finals of the Conference League and lost against West Ham - two very tight games, losing 1-0 and 2-1."
The Austrian threw some cold water on that notion. "I don't really follow the media a lot. I've stopped following the media too much, regardless of win or defeat, because I've noticed that a lot of nonsense is being written. Someone claimed I actually want to be Bayern Munich coach. It amuses me when other people know what I want without having discussed it with me," Glasner told oe24.at (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
Ruben Amorim's record as United manager is really poor, and it's hard to see him surviving for much longer. The Portuguese tactician impressed at former club Sporting Lisbon, but his lack of Premier League experience is perhaps starting to show as he's struggled to make the step up to such a big job. Iraola, by contrast, has already shown what he can do in the Premier League, and so he might be better suited to what's required at MUFC right now.
