Matthew Knies was absent from the morning skate. Knies has recorded 12 goals and 38 points in 43 games this season, but hasn't registered a point in his past four games. If Knies is able to play, he may be placed on the top line with Auston Matthews and Max Domi, while Bobby McMann drops down to the fourth line. McMann skated with Matthews and Domi during Thursday's morning skate.
Roy has had a strong campaign with the Maple Leafs; while he won't show up on the scoresheet, he provides a strong center with defensive structure and a bit of playmaking ability. The Quebec native has led the Maple Leafs' penalty kill to third best in the NHL, a far improvement from years past, and is very effective in the faceoff circle.
Perhaps no new Maple Leaf has been as inconsistent as Maccelli through the first seven games. He's gone from first line with Auston Matthews and Matthew Knies, to second line, to being demoted to the bottom six throughout the first few weeks. Maccelli is averaging 13:49 of ice-time per game, he's recorded just two points in seven games, and what's really stood out the most is his inability to manage the puck.
I was actually with my buddies on a trip. I am getting married in two weeks. It was a good feeling. I was shocked a little bit at first, but I kind of learned about it a couple of days ago.
