The first-ever sale of 'inscriptions' created using the Ordinals protocol of the Bitcoin blockchain has fetched approximately $450,000 at Sotheby's auction, revealing potential public enthusiasm for tradable digital images, commonly referred to as 'NFTs on Bitcoin'.
The auction included three pixelated images, with one selling for over $100,000 and a Super Mario-themed drawing selling for over $240,000. More than two-thirds of bidders were new to Sotheby's, indicating growing interest in NFTs. [ more ]
