Former Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Walker Buehler signed a minor league deal with the San Diego Padres on Monday. Buehler pitched for the Dodgers from 2017-24, missing the 2023 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. The right-hander turned down a $20 million offer from the Dodgers after entering free agency at the end of the 2024 season, and ultimately joined the Boston Red Sox. They released him midway through the season, and he finished the year with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Sutcliffe received 20 of 24 first-place votes to run away with the award. Houston Astros outfielder Jeffrey Leonard - who spent the 1977 season with the Dodgers - received three first-place votes to finish second to Sutcliffe. Rookie of the Year finalists were rounded out Chicago Cubs outfielder Scot Thompson, who garnered one vote for first place. Sutcliffe made his MLB debut with the Dodgers in 1976, but only started one game.

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts, the Padres mourn the passing of our beloved left-hander, Randy Jones. Randy was a cornerstone of our franchise for over five decades, highlighted by becoming the first Padres pitcher to win the Cy Young Award. Inducted into the Padres Hall of Fame in 1999, his impact and popularity only grew in his post-playing career, becoming a tremendous ambassador for the team and a true fan favorite.

There has always been a certain degree of stoicism to Jacob deGrom's game. The veteran right-handed ace's composure on the mound is almost as much of a trademark as his often unhittable stuff. His old teammate Brandon Nimmo even likened him to a bulldog when he's on the mound a smile, or any sort of showing of emotion, comes few and far between.

Logan Webb, Robbie Ray, and Randy Rodriguez were named All-Star reserves for the National League, marking the highest representation of pitchers from any team. Their combined ERA of 3.45 places them second in the league, showcasing a strong pitching performance. Webb ranks fifth among NL starters with an ERA of 2.62, while Ray follows closely at eighth with a 2.68 ERA. Rodriguez impresses with a remarkable .71 ERA, having allowed only 21 hits over 38 innings.
