A blood pressure medication has been recalled after a mix-up that may have led to some bottles containing the wrong drug. According to Health Canada, Marcan Pharmaceuticals Inc. has recalled two lots of MAR-Amlodipine 5 milligram tablets, which are used to treat high blood pressure and chest pain. That's because some bottles may instead contain 2.5 milligram tablets of midodrine, a medication used to treat low blood pressure.

Using data collected from calls made to U.S. poison centers, researchers found that there were over 1.5 million substance exposures reported in kids ages 6 to 12 from 2000 to 2023. Almost half of the exposures in this study were associated with therapeutic errors - think, the child took two doses of a medication by accident or was given it twice by parents who hadn't realized the other had already done so.

One study published in 2018 found that 15% of over 1,300 survey participants exceeded daily NSAID dosages, and most participants didn't recognize that all the products they were taking were NSAIDs.
