Dallas Cowboys' defense struggled last season, particularly in rushing yards allowed and linebacker performance.
Styles's 43½-inch vertical jump was the highest by an off-ball linebacker at the combine since 2003 and the second-highest by any linebacker in that span behind Cameron Wake's 45½-inch jump in 2005. At 6-foot-5, 244 pounds, Styles, rated No. 7 on ESPN insider Mel Kiper Jr.'s big board, also had a 4.46 clocking in the 40-yard dash to go with an 11-foot-2-inch broad jump.
Edmunds is under contract for the 2026 season, entering the final year of the four-year, $72 million deal he signed in 2023. But with no guaranteed money remaining on the contract and the Bears needing financial flexibility, this move doesn't come as a surprise. From a production standpoint, Edmunds delivered another statistically strong season in 2025. He recorded his eighth straight 100-plus tackle campaign and his third consecutive triple-digit season in Chicago.
His first season in Washington was a godsend. Luvu was signed on a bargain after stops with the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, and he became the heart and soul of the Commanders' defense in 2024. The formidable linebacker had eight sacks, 14 quarterback hits, and was named a second-team All-Pro while helping lead the team to the NFC Championship game.
Wagner remains highly productive in between the tackles. He's already beaten his tackle mark from last season with 142, and he also has four sacks. However, the cracks have begun to show when he is isolated and tasked with coverage responsibilities. Perhaps more concerningly, opposing offenses are actively trying to exploit him as a weak link. The former Utah State standout was brilliant against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 16.
JD Bertrand looks like he doesn't belong out there, and given that the committee Jeff Ulbrich discussed hasn't materialized, that's been a major problem for the defense. The Falcons have talked up Bertrand's ability and effort in the past and clearly like the young linebacker, but if they're going to rely on him, they need better. What's causing this performance, and can he be salvaged?
