The effectiveness of hurricane recovery efforts in North Carolina's national forests is threatened by staff shortages and recent federal employee firings.
According to the FOX Forecast Center, a broad area across the South and mid-Atlantic will face an increasing threat of thunderstorms beginning Thursday afternoon when a cluster of storms will develop across Middle Tennessee and move east into northern Alabama, North Georgia, and western North Carolina, an area that is still recovering from Hurricane Helene.
The Flamingo area in Everglades National Park has been an important destination for decades of park visitors looking to explore the nation's largest subtropical wilderness, said JJ Condella, general manager of Flamingo Adventures.
