Every year, the College Football Playoff National Championship game rotates among a handful of host sites. One such site is Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida, which hosted the 2021 CFP Championship Game between Alabama and Ohio State. This year marked a return to the front of the rotation for Hard Rock -- just in time for the Hurricanes, who are Hard Rock's collegiate occupants in the fall.
The Chargers play in an open-air stadium, so it's not technically a dome, but it does have a canopy roof that mainly shields them from the elements. Even better, they play in Los Angeles, and that is not an area that gets New England cold or any extreme weather like sleet or snow. That won't be something they're spared on Sunday, as the weather report for Foxborough already looks like it will benefit the home team.
Barger broke for third on contact, thinking the ball would fall in for a hit, but unfortunately, Enrique Hernandez got a great jump off the bat and produced a twin killing that stopped what looked like it would be a game-tying rally for the Blue Jays, at worst, and at best a chance to finish the series right then and there.
With only 22 games remaining in the regular season and a six-game lead over the Wild Card-chasing Rangers (themselves reeling from the injury loss of their ace, Nathan Eovaldi), the Sox almost certainly have a big enough cushion to survive the loss of Anthony. If you believe in the math behind WAR, then we're looking at only additional 1-2 losses - at the absolute most - as a result of Anthony's absence. Falling out of the postseason at this point would represent a monumental collapse.
