With Pila, you could plug one battery unit, measuring 15.0 × 26.5 × 3.3 inches (380 × 675 × 85mm) and 45lbs (20.4kg), into a standard 120V kitchen wall outlet and keep the fridge permanently plugged into the Pila home battery - no electrician required. When there's an outage, the fridge will automatically failover to protect your food. The battery can also be configured to charge when energy rates are low
"We own and operate all the batteries," says Haven CEO Vinnie Campo. (The company focuses on batteries, but also installs and owns connected rooftop solar panels at some homes.) "We're then able to provide to the utility a fixed dispatch or fixed capacity from those batteries. They can almost think of it as building a mini power plant exactly where they need it."
IKEA has long been known for transforming how we furnish our homes, now it wants to help power them too. The retail giant has unveiled a brand-new Home Energy Services range in the UK, featuring solar panels, heat pumps, home batteries and EV chargers designed to make sustainable living simpler and more accessible. Partnering with renewable energy experts Aira and Soly, IKEA says its latest offering could help households cut both emissions and energy bills while making the switch to greener technology effortless.
