Thousands of Liverpool fans were in the city on the day of Doyle's attack to watch the parade, which started at 14:30 BST on 26 May. The team bus had travelled down The Strand, which passes the end of Water Street, before the incident and the parade was coming to a close, with supporters heading home.
A knifeman who assaulted two men in an unprovoked attack on the Underground has been convicted following a police investigation. Two men, aged 44 and 42, had finished a midweek dance class and were waiting on separate Northern Line platforms when Green passed through the barriers. Moments later, Green launched a brutal "ferocious and unprovoked" 20-second assault on the older victim. When the younger gentlemen rushed to help, Green stabbed him 13 times before horrified passengers managed to intervene.
