While "Blue Monday" briefly puts low mood in the spotlight each January, clinicians warn that February is when seasonal depression often hits hardest. That's when daylight deprivation accumulates and motivation dips further. New research suggests the burden is felt unevenly, particularly among women. A recent study highlighted that nearly 45% of women experience symptoms consistent with SAD as opposed to only 28% of men. While women are more frequently affected and report more severe symptoms, the research also makes clear that men are suffering too - it is just much less diagnosed, or more often missed.
According to Amanda Augustine, resident career expert for TopResume and a Certified Professional Career Coach, per a press release, employers should adjust to the anticipated lower attendance. "For many Americans, the Monday after the Super Bowl comes with a real post-game hangover, and I don't just mean from the snacks and cocktails. It's a mix of late nights, disrupted routines, and for some, a case of the post-game blues.

Other qualities are very important when sparking romance beyond superficial appeal, such as kindness, honesty, compassion, compatibility, and of course the way a prospective partner makes us feel about ourselves. Many daters are faced with a mix of positive traits to analyze, both physical and emotional.
Cross-cultural research consistently shows that men eat more meat than women, particularly beef and processed varieties. Large-scale surveys from the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia reveal not only larger portions but also more frequent meat consumption among men. Women, by contrast, tend to eat more plant-based foods and smaller servings of meat, while vegetarianism and veganism remain markedly more prevalent among women than men.
Men are slightly less likely than women to awaken to quiet crying sounds but are just as likely as women to awaken to louder crying sounds. The researchers found a very slight difference at the lowest decibel level (33 to 44 decibels-which is a little bit louder than a whisper), with women being 14 percent more likely than men to awaken to both crying sounds and alarms at this level.
A survey recently conducted by the dating app The League asked its members what industries they would consider to be the most attractive for potential partners. Among female respondents, finance/business earned the most interest, and among male respondents, medicine/mental health seems to have gotten their hearts racing the most. For example, it has been found that the older people get, the more they prefer to have a younger partner if they start a new relationship. Interestingly, this effect is stronger in men than in women. Moreover, it has also been found that on average, the older partner in an age gap relationship is happier than the younger partner. This perplexed my colleague but made eminent sense to me. In evolutionary terms, think of our ancestral hunter-gatherers. Males hunting that woolly mammoth had to have incredible, one-pointed mindful awareness, no distractions. Otherwise, they'd more likely be dinner than kill dinner. These males, excellent at combat, hunting, and present-moment awareness, were more likely to survive and procreate (à la Darwin), leading to more men proficient at mindful, present-moment awareness.
Interaction and Events: While creating code, the all-male pairs interacted more with the SCRATCH interface than the all-female pairs. The all-male pairs moved blocks around significantly more often than all-female pairs (p = 0.041). Similarly, boys changed the parameters of an existing block more than the girls (p = 0.060). Dragging a new block out of the toolbox is also done more often by the all-male pairs, but not with such a distinct difference (p = 0.093).
