Happy Friday, San Francisco Giants fans.After a painful day off (where was my baseball, damn it?!?!?), the Giants are back in action tonight.Per the usual, the Giants will have 26 active players tonight when they face the Miami Marlins.But one player who is not part of that 26? Catcher Gary Sánchez.

With 2023 officially underway, here are three things we'll be keeping an eye on around the baseball world throughout the day today:
1.Where can the Royals look for pitching?Recently, Royals GM J.J. Picollo told reporters that the team is still interested in adding to their rotation, even following deals with righty Jordan Lyles and lefty Ryan Yarbrough.

We did this in April, and now we're going to do it in May.The Braves had an okay month, and with the Mets sweeping the Phillies, they no longer have the biggest division lead in baseball.Still, it's 3.5 games, so we shan't fret too much.Instead, let's check in on what's been going on around the league.

The Atlanta Braves began the four-game set with the division rival Philadelphia Phillies on a high note after taking the series opener 8-5.Dylan Dodd earned the start for the Braves, and between a few missed spots by Dodd and several big swings by the Phillies, this game was a back-and-forth affair.

Chicago White Sox catcher Yasmani Grandal has not lived up to the contract which made him the highest-paid player in team history when he signed the deal back in 2019.Despite being a solid on-base percentage player who has hit for power in the past, his defense has been a liability and his inability to stay healthy has been a problem.

First Base When looking at the first base free agent options available, arguably the biggest name is that of Belt, a 12-year MLB veteran who has spent every season of his career with the San Francisco Giants.

Brewers general manager Matt Arnold says that the club is looking to improve behind the plate, per Curt Hugg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.When asked if they were more likely to pursue trades or free agents in that department, Arnold said it's "hard to handicap."The Brewers used a fairly even time split behind the plate in 2022, with Victor Caratini getting 73 starts and Omar Narvaez getting 80.

There's a lot of exciting things going on in baseball as the money teams double down on winning.The Nats are not a money team right now.There is nothing exciting going on with the Nats.This isn't a surprise
