Architect Jordan William Hughes has won a $11,000 prize for his design of a space elevator called Ascensio.
Space elevators would revolutionize space travel by eliminating the need for expensive rockets and making space exploration more viable.
While the concept is currently science fiction, Hughes believes that a space elevator will eventually be built, although not by him. [ more ]
