The actress, who starred in director Jarman's Caravaggio in 1986, has been celebrated in a new exhibition, documenting her career, in Amsterdam. Tilda Swinton - Ongoing, runs at the Eye Filmmuseum until February and explores the Oscar-winner's work with filmmakers such as Luca Guadagnino, Joanna Hogg and Jim Jarmusch, as well as Jarman. Included in the displays are previously unseen works from Jarman, including Super 8 footage of the actress.
In 2012, before Paul Thomas Anderson released his "The Master" on 70mm film, the format had not been commercially presented for nearly 50 years. His enthusiasm to release the movie on that film format led others, like Quentin Tarantino, to retrofit old theaters to be equipped to project the Ultra Panavision 70 format for "The Hateful Eight," viewing the effort as "film's saving grace." Just like vinyl records, all the cool kids now want their movies to be on film and shown in 70mm.
'This film concludes a journey for me that started at age seven, when I saw James Whale's Frankenstein films for the first time. Gothic horror became my church, and Boris Karloff my Messiah,' says del Toro. 'It is an honour to be able to invite people to take a closer look at how my incredible crafts team and I have brought Mary Shelley's world to life on screen.'
