The mother of a 6-year-old who shot his first-grade teacher in a Virginia classroom pleaded guilty on Monday to federal criminal charges for using marijuana while owning a firearm, and making false statements about drug use when she bought the gun.The mother, Deja Taylor, was previously indicted by a grand jury in Virginia on state criminal charges of neglect and endangerment, in connection with her son's access to the handgun that he used in the shooting.

Two brothers, one a former Stoneham Police officer and the other an owner of an electrical contracting company, are facing criminal charges for allegedly running a bribery and kickback scheme that brought them millions of dollars in contracts.Joseph Ponzo, 49, of Stoneham, and Christopher Ponzo, 48, of North Reading were first charged in April 2022.

U.S. District Judge Michael Liburdi granted an emergency order from the bench Tuesday that bans Arizona's ballot drop box monitors affiliated with conservative group Clean Elections USA from taking photos of voters while they are within 75 feet of a ballot box.The order also prohibits observers associated with the group, which has organized at least some of the drop box surveillance in the Phoenix area, from posting identifying images or information about voters online and making false statements about election law from now to the end of the voting period.
