My immediate response is, or thought is, you know, really thinking of the families of this, of the aircrew here. Look, I have always felt like Iran it's a very big country. It's not the same as Iraq or Afghanistan.
One of the biggest mistakes passengers make is arriving at the bag drop or ticket counter with luggage that exceeds the airline limit, resulting in a mad dash to repack and shift items between bags.
In-flight Wi-Fi is roughly on par with hotel or airport Wi-Fi. It's not automatically unsafe, but it's not something you should blindly trust either. You're on a shared network with hundreds of other people, and you don't know how well it's segmented or monitored.
"There are hygienic considerations. I always compare taking off your shoes on a plane to going shoeless on a public bus," Natalia Yepes, an ex-flight attendant and owner of Adventuresque Travel Boutique, shared with Travel + Leisure. "Think about how many people ride it a day. At each stop, the cleaners only have 10 minutes-sometimes less. They are not focusing on germs, but just on keeping the plane looking aesthetically clean (free of crumbs and big debris)."
Gate changes, especially those sprung on travellers at the last minute, are a real pain point in air travel. The primary drivers are usually a last-minute aircraft swap due to a mechanical issue or an unexpected delay on an inbound flight occupying the planned gate.
"Storing your bag behind you often means you'll be forced to wait for nearly every other passenger to deplane before you can reach it. That can turn what should be a swift exit into a slow, frustrating slog,"
Passengers can be removed from a flight for disruptive, violent, or aggressive behavior, making threats, or interfering with a crew member's ability to perform their duties. Once a passenger refuses instructions, escalates a confrontation, or distracts the crew during boarding or taxi, airlines have little flexibility because it becomes a safety issue. That stance is backed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which maintains a zero-tolerance policy for unruly or dangerous behavior, meaning passengers who interfere with crew duties can face removal, fines, or further action.
Since the collision on January 29, 2025, between an American Airlines flight from Wichita and a military helicopter on a training ride, military pilots have had to broadcast their precise GPS-based location data to other aircraft and to air traffic control, something they frequently skipped before the crash. The FAA has also barred all but the most essential helicopter traffic along the Potomac near the airport.
BANGOR, Maine -- A private aircraft carrying eight people crashed on takeoff Sunday night at Maine's Bangor International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said. The Bombardier Challenger 600 crashed around 7:45 p.m., and there was no immediate word on the conditions of those aboard. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating. The crash occurred as New England and much of the country grappled with a massive winter storm. Bangor had undergone steady snowfall Sunday along with many other parts of the country.
Around 8:45 p.m. on Monday, British Airways Flight 274 lost a tire just as it was taking off from Harry Reid International Airport, FAA officials told SFGATE. The Airbus landed safely in London, and "the tire was retrieved from the LAS airfield," airport officials confirmed to SFGATE via email. "There were no reported injuries or damage to airport property." On Thursday, the same aircraft is slated to travel from London's Heathrow Airport to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Flight24 data shows.
If there's one group of people you can count on to have valuable travel tips and tricks, it's flight attendants. Not only do they have to pack carry-on luggage for week-long trips smartly, but they've also mastered how to fly comfortably since the plane is basically their office. Flight attendant Karen Young has been in the business for more than 45 years and knows all the do's and don'ts of flying - including in-flight travel essentials you're most likely forgetting and what not to wear on the plane.
Rushing to get on board with your carry-on may seem like a good idea (there's only so much overhead bin space, after all), but attempting to take shortcuts during the boarding process can actually delay your travels even more. "We understand that boarding can make people anxious, but I promise: If you have a seat assignment, you will get on the plane,"
Air Canada Rouge Flight 1502 was taxiing toward the runway at Toronto Pearson International Airport when Caron noticed flight attendants frantically running down the aisle of the cabin. The plane eventually came to a halt before reaching the runway and Caron looked out the window. We could see the crew gathering around the plane, so we knew something was happening, she said. Then, the pilot tells us that there is someone from the crew in the luggage hold.
