Harry Ford, who was one of the breakout stars from the most recent WBC, is now firmly in a starring role for them this time around. Although every team is just playing exhibitions right now before the tournament officially kicks off, Ford made a fantastic first impression for the 2026 tournament on Tuesday. He finished the game 3/5 with a 2-run homer, and is giving Nationals fans a potential preview of what they can expect when they see him play on a big stage.
To this point, that was one of the cooler things I've ever done. Guys who I've watched growing up and guys who I've always looked up to all in one spot. It was a great experience for me and I'm glad I got the opportunity to play out there for eight innings.

What stood out about the scrimmage today? Berube: I know you take what you take out of those scrimmages, but I thought the intensity was good. The guys were trying to do the right things out there and play the right way. It wasn't like a summertime shinny hockey game. I was pretty happy with the scrimmage.
