Lakers would give championship rings to all 26 players to play for them if they win title

As their postseason run continues, the Los Angeles Lakers have made a decision that if they do win three more rounds of the NBA playoffs and claim their 18th banner, no players' contributions will have been too small to celebrate; not even Patrick Beverley. They will all get championship rings. This is pretty much exactly what we predicted on this site back when Beverley reiterated that both he and Russell Westbrook would want some jewelry if their former team won the title, and TNT sideline reporter Chris Haynes confirmed as much during the network's pregame broadcast on Monday:

"They [Lakers] would extend a championship ring to ALL players who were on the roster at any point during this season."

Report: The Lakers worked out Cody Zeller last week

DeMarcus Cousins is reportedly working out for the Los Angeles Lakers next week, but he's not the only center the team has taken a look at.According to veteran NBA insider Marc Stein, the team worked out Cody Zeller when they were in Charlotte last week to play the Hornets. It doesn't sound like a signing is imminent, but it does appear that the team wants to look at other potential center options in the wake of how Damian Jones has disappointed this year:

The Lakers, as part of their broad look at available free agents, auditioned big man Cody Zeller in Charlotte last week, league sources say.@ChrisBHaynes reported earlier today that former All-Star DeMarcus Cousins works out for L.A. next week.More: https://t.co/LGN9cVpeGP-

Boston Celtics: Derrick Favors, Hassan Whiteside not on radar

MassLive's Brian Robb shut down the idea of the Boston Celtics pursuing either Derrick Favors or Hassan Whiteside during his latest Celtics Mailbag, adding that the current bench big-man platoon of Luke Kornet, Noah Vonleh, and Blake Griffin could suffice for the rest of the season. The Houdini recently made the case for Favors to be signed with the $3.2 million disabled player exception - the amount being calculated as half of Danilo Gallinari's salary for the 2022-23 season - but Robb doesn't see the center, who was recently released by the Houston Rockets, as a potential option.

Local podcaster says he wants championship ring from Lakers

Professional podcaster and part-time NBA player Patrick Beverley may have said his main goal after being traded by the Lakers was to knock the team out of the NBA playoffs entirely with the Bulls - even after he had already done so much to help with that task during his brickfest of a tenure on the team, it was a task he proved too small for - claimed he had actually demanded a trade after weeks of rumors he wanted to leave even before the Russell Westbrook trade, and then complained that Lakers fans were celebrating his downfall, but he still wants his championship ring if his former team goes all the way to the title.

Sources say that the Lakers will keep the 15th spot on their roster open for now after Sterling Brown's 10-day contract expired yesterday.-

The Lakers are eligible for a hardship exception. Will they use it?

While the Lakers have been smacked hard by injuries in the last week, there is one silver lining that is likely to become relevant this week.Dating back to the start of last weekend, the Lakers saw Austin Reaves, Lonnie Walker IV, and Troy Brown Jr. join Anthony Davis for the last three games. The team did manage two wins in that three-game span and, as a result of the absences, could be set to receive some reinforcements.

Anthony Davis is playing at a truly historical level

The NBA has a long, long history of players and games.Even when taking into account that not all stats have been tracked since the league started - steals and blocks weren't recorded until the early 1980s, for example - there are thousands of games each year and decades of data. All of that makes it hard to believe - and easier to appreciate - Anthony Davis' performance on Tuesday against Phoenix was a one-of-one in league history.

Washington Wizards: deep dive into Kristaps Porzingis' play this season

While he may be having the best season of his career, Kristaps Porzingis has been going unappreciated by the larger NBA community this season. This is proven by the fact that he was not named an All-Star.He missed the All-Star game despite averaging monster numbers across the board. He is posting the ridiculous stat line of 23.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 0.8 steals per game.

Boston Celtics: Age may prevent reunion with former Cs big man

A popular question since Australian big man Aron Baynes returned to basketball with the Brisbane Bullets of the National Basketball League this past summer after a career-threatening injury during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is whether or not the Boston Celtics would consider bringing him back. It's not looking likely that the Cs, or any other of the 29 teams across the Association for that matter, will be signing him to a contract anytime soon - this at least according to MassLive's Brian Robb.
