For more than forty years, he was in regular attendance at punk shows billing up-and-coming bands in ramshackle and makeshift venues throughout Northern California (particularly in the East Bay). Honing his technical skill he developed and mastered a photographic style known as the "Hail Mary," later dubbed the "Hail Murray": an outstretched arm above the head, body still jostling in the fray, capturing in one moment the very essence and energy of the show in all its hectic glory.

The 2025 Aftershock Festival closed up shop on Sunday by delivering another full day's worth of heavy sounds and cool performances. Rob Zombie, Marilyn Mason, Bring Me the Horizon, Mudvayne and In This Moment were among the big-name acts to perform on the fourth and final day of this year's Aftershock Festival at Discovery Park in San Francisco. Wry indie rockers Wet Leg brought a raucous show to the Brooklyn Paramount in New York on September 18th. Our former CoSign are touring on behalf of their excellent new album, moisturizer, and the Brooklyn Paramount hosted some fun theatrics from the increasingly-confident group. Samsung makes the best camera phones on the market (at least in my opinion), and as a proud owner of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, I tend to use my smartphone a lot more than my "proper" cameras for photography lately, purely for the ease of use and the fact that it's always in my pocket. But even if you aren't an Android user and prefer one of the best iPhones for photography instead, Kadesh's tips are still worth remembering.
