Jamey-Lyn Horth aims to break into the UFC flyweight top 15 by fighting JJ Aldrich in Winnipeg.
The UFC's April 18 Canadian date will not take place in Ottawa, as previously expected, but Winnipeg. Promotion officials made the announcement on Friday, confirming a long-expected match-up between welterweights Gilbert Burns (22-9) and Mike Malott (13-2-1) as the card's main event. Previously, Ottawa had been confirmed by multiple sources and event stated publicly by fighters including Mitch Raposo. Instead of the Canadian capital, the promotion will touch down in Winnipeg, Manitoba for the first time since 2017, and just the third time overall.
Canada has always been a hot bed for MMA. However, despite it's long and storied history of legendary fighters, there is still not a huge concerntration of MMA fighters in certain parts of the country. That's particularly true for the Western part of the country and even more so when you're looking at female fighters. For those reasons, the team of Jamey-Lyn Horth pushed her to get out and travel a bit after her last fight.
